Your Current Mindset:
Right now, you lean toward thinking that your intelligence doesn’t change much. You’d rather avoid making mistakes if you can, and not enjoy putting in a lot of effort on things that don’t come easily to you. You may think that learning should be fast and when you find something difficult you may feel discouraged.
You tend to be disappointed in yourself when you don’t do well at something, and you may feel embarrassed by failure. This may be holding you back from achieving all that you could if you put forth your best effort in all areas. For example, maybe there are one or more areas where you think you don’t have as much ability that you tend to avoid. Or you may work hard to do well, but feel a lot of stress about the prospect of failure.
Chances are that you probably have a lot more potential than you are using! People who believe that they can increase their intelligence through effort and challenge actually get smarter and do better in school, work, and life over time. They know that mental exercise makes their brains grow smarter—the same way that exercise makes an athlete stronger and faster. And they are always learning new ways to work smart and build their brains.
A growth mindset is something that you can develop. Would you like to find out how you can practice more of a growth mindset and reach your full potential?
