Purpose and objectives:
The aim of this assignment is to enable students to familiarize themselves with different
analytical techniques by hands on practice on specific product.
Tasks:
Assume that you are the Product Manager of a reputed company. Your company is deciding to
develop and launch a brand new product in the same product category in 2022/23. However, the
market potential and sales performance of the new product is uncertain due to the COVID-19
epidemic. There is no doubt that the COVID-19 epidemic has changed and affected how
marketers sell their products and reach customers. You are requested by the CEO of the company
to conduct product category attractiveness analysis, customer analysis and competitor analysis,
and submit a written report that includes the results of the analyses and recommendations on
managing and marketing this newly developed product.
In this assignment, you may choose a company in business-to-consumer sector that you are
familiar with, which could be a reputed local or international brand where information about the
company is publicly available. You are required to collect the information from secondary
sources to conduct the product category attractiveness analysis, customer analysis and competitor
analysis of the product. You are required to submit a write-up to discuss the findings and
recommendation. In the report, you should demonstrate your ability to conduct a market analysis,
make use of appropriate analytical techniques, and provide relevant product decision and
recommendation based on the findings.
