The telemetry unit provides care to patients that have been transferred from the Intensive care unit (ICU), surgery or from the emergency department that require continuous cardiac monitoring. Most of the patients on the telemetry unit have a predisposing history that involves the cardiovascular system therefore require close monitoring. The telemetry unit has a monitor technician that will monitor, recognize any abnormality and report cardiac arrhythmias to the registered nurse caring for the patient.
